The following local residents were named to the Western Technical College President's List of High Distinction for fall semester 2016.
On May 6 and 7, Georgia Southern University held its annual spring commencement ceremonies for graduate and undergraduate students at Hanner Fieldhouse and Allen E. Paulson Stadium. Interim University President Jean E. Bartels, Ph.D., R.N., conferred more than 3,300 doctoral, master's, specialist and bachelor's degrees from the University's eight colleges during two separate ceremonies.
The Iowa State University College of Human Science's Dean's List honors students who have earned a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

The following local residents were honored during the 2011 Doctor of Pharmacy White Coat Ceremony for students entering the first professional year in the Doctor of Pharmacy program at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
The following people recently were initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.
Scholarships valued at more than $600,000 were awarded to 320 University of Wisconsin-Stout students this year through the Stout University Foundation at a reception on campus Sept. 12. Many of the scholarship donors and members of the board of directors personally presented the awards.
The following students from the area have been accepted to the University of Wisconsin-Stout and will be offered a $1,000 automatic, one-year scholarship if they meet or exceed the following criteria: rank in the top 50 percent, with a 3.2 GPA for high schools that do not rank, and have a composite ACT score of 22. Selection will be determined based solely on academic qualifications and of those who apply by Sunday, Jan. 15.
